SMARTBoard Files
I have created this SmartBoard page to post contributions web site visitors have sent me, and to also DIRECT/POINT YOU TO to where my SMARTBoard files are located on this website. When you get to the page where the file is located, search the page for the file name and download it to your computer.
If you have questions about a particular document, idea, or post, please email the contributor directly.
These ".notebook" files are VERY LARGE, please, PLEASE, please right click and select "save as" instead of opening them directly from the server. This will also cut down on bandwidth usage.
Interactive Whiteboards
I get a lot of emails asking about SMART Notebook. Users of other Interactive White Boards want to know of they are able to use the files found on my site (SMART Notebook files). I am often not able to answer their questions because I simply do not know. I started the following chart that might help. I'm going to add links to helpful sites/blogs/videos/articles/etc that will help differentiate between various IWB platforms. Unzipping & Extracting? Downloading from Dropbox?
Confused about how to access the SMARTnotebook files? Keep reading...
First, it's important to know that I cannot upload notebook files to my host, GoDaddy. I plan to work with them (beg them!?) to consider supporting these types of files, but for now, I can only upload zipped notebook files. A zipped file is a file that has been compressed into a folder. You download the compressed file (folder), and then "unzip" it and extract the file. A lot of people have trouble figuring out how to do this and end up opening the compressed file, thinking they've unzipped it, only to find file parts and bits and pieces, but no intact file. To alleviate this headache for visitors, I've also begun to upload files (not zipped!) to a public Dropbox folder.
When you download from DROPBOX, you just click on the file. It will download automatically as a .notebook file. There have been occassions where visitors try to download a file from Dropboc when they're at school and are unable to successfully download. In these cases, after investigating a little, it was found out that they needed their IT department to change a setting on their end to allow for Dropbox downloads.
When you download a zipped file, you just click on the file, download/save to your computer and unzip it. Then you extract the file. Here are a few tutorials that might be helpful if you have trouble figuring out how to unzip and extract.
