As with Frontloading and Connecting, students learn early on through modeling and think alouds what it means to Visualize.  In this unit, students share their mental images verbally and pictorially.  One of the lessons deals with quickly drawing mental images.  The key for any of the strategy units is to get kids reading and reading LOTS.  Although some of the lessons do include written or drawn responses, students spend more time verbally interacting with their classmates, teacher, and texts.

As you read through the minilessons you'll notice that there aren't many book-specific lessons.  Instead, I try to focus on getting the main bones/structure of the Visualizing process down, and then the knowledge we have about Visualizing can be applied to any book we are reading independently, in partnerships, or in small groups throughout the year.
