Writing Options: Word Work

Syllable Card Clap

Objective:

Is a center where students select a set of cards (set 1    set 2     set 3) and determine the number of syllables in each word.  They then place clothespins on the card to represent the number of syllables.  The card is self correcting as students then turn the card over to check the number of actual syllables (on the circle sticker).  Students may clap out the syllables while wearing gardening gloves.
